Tenuta di Monte Sante Marie is a tuscan organic-devoted isle for food excellence: we grow organically truffles, ancient grains varieties to make our own artisanal pasta, flower and beer, olive trees to make an incredible extravirgin olive oil (evo).
Headquarter of the estate is the former border castle and then fortified borough of Monte Sante Marie, built hilltop by Longobards in VII century in the middle of Crete Senesi, Siena countryside, the heart of Tuscany. The village held a municipality of his own until 1777 and maintained a large community until mid sixties, when it still had a dedicated train station, a public school and a small priest-managed cinema hall, too.
Because of his rich architectural, historical, landscape and cultural value, the whole Monte Sante Marie property, hidden in a centuries-old cypress trees wood, is protected by law.
Monte Sante Marie is famous, as much as the dusty unpaved road taking her name after the village, for being the most hard, spectacular and tv shooted stage of wolrdwide reknown bycicle races such as Eroica and Strade Bianche.
The surrounding landscape is amazing, made of the clay rolling hills so beloved by photographers, advertisers, writers and artists.
The owners live here all year long.
